Herdade Papa Leite Religiosamente Guardado is a limited edition red wine, produced by Syrah, Alicante Bouschet, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties. It has a garnet colour and aromas of ripe black fruit, such as plum. There are also notes of fine spices and dried fruit. In the mouth, it is very well balanced, incredibly fresh, and voluminous.

Excellent with intense cheeses, oily nuts, game dishes, pork belly confit, Portuguese "migas" with ribs.

The story

Herdade Papa Leite, located in Alter do Chão, in the heart of Alto Alentejo, dates back to the 17th century and has been owned by many families over the centuries until it was acquired by Filipe Barreiros Cardoso. Passionate about the area, he bought the estate to realize his dream of producing high-quality products.

For centuries, the main activity at the Herdade was the cultivation of cereals, olive groves, holm and cork oak.

Starting from what the Herdade already had to offer, rich fields for raising cattle and ample and well irrigated plains ideal for wine production, Filipe transformed the 320 hectares into a Portuguese brand of excellency.

The grapes are picked at night and carefully selected to guarantee that only the best bunches make it to the winery, and that they arrive fresh. Herdade Papa Leite's wines are made with only the best the land has to offer.

With his and the Herdade’s history always very present, the family invited us to take part in this story through the wines, which are produced with meaningful intentions and a continuously evolving narrative in mind. Each label represents a unique moment lived at Herdade Papa Leite, drawn by the local artist Pedro Ramalho.
